Chennai was an export garment manufacturing center during that period.Merchants in areas like Washermenpet, Royapuram used to purchase ready-made garments in bulk for export and grade them in bulk and produce them as ready-made garments and sell them to many states of India. Based on that, the market called Singarathottam was formed by itself without any planning. As the wheel of time revolved, great changes took place worldwide. As a result, in 1991, our Indian nation also adopted the economic policy of globalization and liberalization. Chennai also began to transform from an export manufacturing hub.Our market which was formed with the support of the abundance of exports and purchased from cities like Erode, Salem, Coimbatore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Ichalkaranchi and produced in large quantities and started selling to many states including Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Delhi, Assam, Nagpur.
